ed ruscha at hammer museum.

Last night, J and I went to an event at the Hammer Museum in honor of their new Ed Ruscha exhibition.  Based on Jack Kerouac's classic 1957 novel, On The Road, Ruscha extracted parts of text for the impressive canvas pieces and even recreated his own 2009 artist book version.  The small show is centered around a handful of paintings, works on museum board and an individually framed edition of the 2009 book.  Charming and intimate but manages to capture the expanse of the western landscape and a pivotal generation.
